The prosecutor at Hualien District Prosecutors Office, Chun-Min Cho, directed Hualien County Bureau of Police to seize about 100 grams of marijuana flower. This case originated from intelligence that 2 suspects, Chang and Chen, planted cannabis indoors. Prosecutor Cho instructed the police to keep the suspects under close surveillance. In early April 2020, the police raided the suspect’s residence and held 100 grams of flower into custody.

In May 2020, Prosecutor Cho also led the investigation of drug trafficking. The defendant, Chao, smuggled 911 grams of cannabis concealed in imported cookie packages. By analyzing custom clearance documents and digial anti-drug database, with the help from logistics and custom officials, Prosecutor investigated and captured the middleman and the consignor. All were detained and inditcted as accomplice.

Cooperation among prosecutors, police, investigators from MJIB and custom officers had led to the success of these operations. Hualien District Prosecutors Office once again prevented the drugs from reaching our citizens. The prosecutors, on the one hand, would continue commanding the associated authorities to combat drug trafficking, and on the other, appeal to the public for resisting lure of drug.
